Locating OEM Part Number on SPAL HVAC Blowers & Cooling Fans

HVAC blower motor modules and cooling fans usually have a quality control label that enables the manufacturer to trace information such as product batch numbers and dates. On SPAL blowers and fans this is also where the SPAL "TYPE" or description code is also located. This label will often also be on the original OE part if it is a SPAL unit as warranty is only valid if this QC label is still attached to the unit.

Where to look for OEM Numbers

The QC label is usually located on top of one of the twin wheel housings on SPAL double blower motors, close to the speed control resistor (if present). For single blowers it is on the side of the unit. For oil or water radiator cooling fans the label is located behind the motor housing. Some OE parts will also have the manufacturers own part number as well as the SPAL Type.

Example SPAL "Type" number for HVAC Blowers

Blower SPAL Type numbers are in the format of HOUSING-MOTOR-BLADE (Direction if single wheel) as shown below. 12v blowers will have an A prefix for the motor code and a B prefix if it is 24v.

Axial fans SPAL Type numbers are in the format of SHROUD-MOTOR-BLADE (Airflow Direction) as shown below. 12v fans will have an A prefix for the motor code and 24v fans have a B motor prefix.

Many manufacturers provide online access to parts diagrams. This enables end-users to find the part they are replacing on the diagram, and see associated part numbers. Some examples include:
